Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again come out in support of India's athletes – he advised the media to stop chasing politicians and instead showcase the immense sacrifices our athletes make to reach the highest level.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been vocal in supporting India's Olympic journey this year, as he supported the athletes in the run-up and after the quadrennial event. He sent off India's strongest contingent to the Olympics personally in a ceremony, and despite the team returning with a disappointing haul, the Prime Minister has supported them. After he praised medalists, Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu last week, the Prime Minister, in an exclusive yesterday to CNN News 18, spoke out in favor of the athletes.

The PM called for the press to highlight the hardships that Indian sportspersons endure and celebrate them instead of chasing politicians.

Modi said, "You should select 30 athletes who went to Rio from the Indian contingent and show their daily schedule to the country. Looking at the amount of hard work they put in, it will change the way people in India look at their sports persons."

He also praised the athletes' dedication saying that each one of them spends 10-12 hours a day towards their preparations and pointed to their resolve in not giving up even in the case of failure.
