Video | Zeeshan Ali spurns stumping opportunity THRICE in Hong Kong T20 Blitz
Every now and then, the game of cricket throws up many hilarious and bizarre incidents which leave the spectators on their stomach in uncontrollable laughter. Today, Zeeshan Ali missed the easiest of stumping chances and funnily, that led to a death stare by the bowler Ehsan Khan.
The game of cricket has always produced some hilarious instances ever since its inception. From fielders taking stunning catches to batsmen failing to hit the simplest of balls out of the ground, cricket makes for an unpredictable game.
The recent incident took place in the ongoing Hong Kong T20 Blitz 2018 when the wicketkeeper of Hong Kong Island United Zeeshan Ali spurned an easy chance to dismiss Anshuman Rath, who was batting at 20. In the seventh over, City Kataik's Rath advanced down the wicket in an attempt to hit spinner Ehsan Khan for a six but ended up missing the ball altogether.
With the batsman way ahead of his crease, wicket-keeper Ali failed to collect the ball thrice and before he finally managed to dislodge the stumps with the ball not present in his hands. Ali was at the unfortunate end of spinner Ehsan’s death-defying stare that had the crowd in splits. Rath later went on to score 35 off 22 balls, which included four boundaries and two sixes and also shared an opening partnership of 100 runs with Kyle Coetzer. Rath was later sent back to the pavilion by Ehsan in the 11th over of the game.
Hong Kong United managed to reach 169 for nine in 20 overs in reply to City Kaitak’s massive 195 for four which saw Coetzer score his maiden T20 century off 65 balls. Hong Kong United lost the match by 26 runs.
