14-year-old Mumbai boy scores unbeaten 1,045 in local match
Navi Mumbai's young cricketer Tanishq Gavate has played a 1,045-run knock in a local tournament, claimed his coach Manish in an interview to PTI. He started his innings on Monday and continued the momentum on the next day to make the record score for his Yashwantrao Chavan team in Navi Mumbai.
Gavate, a 14-year-old school-boy in Mumbai, has come to limelight in a local tournament as he played a mammoth innings of 1045 runs. Tanishq was a part of the Yashwantrao Chavan XI in the tournament, a team made up of the players from the academy run by his coach, Manish. Garvate's innings in the semifinals came off 515 balls and that was innings was embellished with 149 boundaries and 67 sixes.
The match was played on the ground where the leg side boundary of 60-65 yards and the off side boundary was 50 yards. The player took two days to score the huge amount of runs and his coach also claimed that in the tournament the players used leather ball and bowlers delivered it overarm.
An official from Mumbai Cricket Association, however, told that the tournament, titled Navi Mumbai Shield U14, has not been recognized by the association.
The knock was bound to bring back memories of the 1009-run knock played by Pranav Dhanawade in 2015 in the Bhandari Cup inter-school tournament. Pranavâs knock then established a new world record in school cricket as it crossed past the previous record of 628 runs set by Arthur Collins in 1899.
