India crushed UAE by 227 runs in the U-19 Asia Cup on Sunday thanks to centuries by openers Anuj Rawat and Devdutt Padikkal and a six-wicket haul by spinner Siddharth Desai. With two victories from two matches, India U-19 are now placed at the top of the Group A table with one match to go.

The openers served well by a 205-run partnership between Padikkal (121) and Rawat (102). Skipper Pawan Shah (45), Sameer Choudhary (42), and Ayush Badoni (21) made quick runs to make sure that the team reached a formidable score of 354 runs for six in 50 overs.

After batsman's carnage, it all became a formality for the bowlers to wrap up the proceedings and India’s left-arm spin bowler Desai turned out to be the hero. He returned with impressive figures of six for 24 in 8.5 overs as UAE were bowled out for 133 in 33.5 overs.

In the previous game against Nepal, India scored 304 riding on opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 104 and wicket-keeper PrabhSimran Singh’s 84. The two convincing wins in two matches have helped the Indian team to the top of the points table and qualify for the semi-final. The Pawan Shah-led team will take on Rahmanullah-led Afghanistan colts tomorrow at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No 3 Ground in Savar.
