Bangladesh's promising left-arm quick bowler Kazi Anik has been tested positive in a dope test and is likely to face suspension from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Anik will not take any further part in the National Cricket League and his name has also been removed from the BPL player draft.

Kazi Anik, one of the hopes for the future in the Bangladesh pace attack, has been tested positive during a dope test in the National Cricket League and is likely to get suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. He had featured in the last edition of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup and also plays for the Dahaka Metro.

He will not be taking any further part in the ongoing National Cricket League and the chief selector Minhajul Abedin has confirmed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has removed his name from the player draft of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

"We have been informed by the medical team that he was found positive in the dope test during the NCL and we decided not to include him in the further part of NCL. We also decided not to include his name in the BPL players draft," Minhajul told Cricbuzz.

"He was part in some of our program but now we have decided not to include him in our structure until we are getting the full report from the medical team." he further mentioned.

The main reason for Anik's failure in the doping test was due to substance abuse. It was stated in clause 10.3.2 for a violation of Article 2.4 (Whereabouts Failures) according to BCB's Anit-Doping rule, that a player will be suspended for two years which will be subject to reduction to about a year depending upon the degree of the player's fault.

With current Bangladesh pace bowling attack struggling for consistency, the loss of this promising youngster might well prove to be yet another blow to Bangladesh cricket this year.
