Superstar Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt has decided to pursue a professional football career with the Australian club Central Coast Mariners in order to chase his dream. Bolt has stated that he is deadly serious about his football career and has planned to show the world what he is capable of.

Bolt arrived in Australia on Saturday for a trial stint with the A-League club as they (the club) had agreed to let him train with the team indefinitely in his pursuit of a playing contract. The club officials hoped that Bolt would improve with time and wanted to turn him into A-League material for the start of the 2018/19 season in late October.

Bolt, wearing a Mariners’ scarf, was met by the media in Sydney airport upon arrival. He said that he is ready for the challenge and is looking forward to showing the world what he is capable of.

“I always put my best foot forward and I am going to show the world what I am made of. This is real,” Bolt said.

The 31-year-old further thanked the Mariners for giving him the opportunity and expressed his happiness to stay in Australia for the stint.

“I am grateful to the Mariners for giving me the opportunity and am happy to call Australia home for now. I’ve always felt like playing football professionally,” he added.

Despite being a legendary athlete and an eight-time Olympic champion, he admitted to being nervous about what lay ahead in the small town of Gosford, 75 kilometres north of Sydney, where the club is based.

“Nerves will always be there, but I’m more excited than anything else,” Bolt revealed.

However, Mariners chief executive Shaun Mielkamp stated that Bolt won’t be treated specially, although extra security guards will be on hand and the club sessions might be moved to a larger venue to accommodate the fans who are expected to turn up for Bolt.

“The one thing we have been really firm on is that Usain, while trialling for a contract, be treated the same way as any player. Obviously, we understand the realities of having somebody of his profile. But there will be no advantages. And that’s what Bolt wants. This is about his football journey and he has come here for the right reasons,” Mielkamp stated.
