Devinder Walmiki and Harjeet Singh have signed to play for the Dutch club HGC for the 2019-20 season. The Indian players will play in the upcoming Euro Hockey League in which the team from the Netherlands is making a comeback after a gap of eight years since winning the league in 2011.

In a welcome move for Indian hockey, Indian players Devinder Walmiki and Harjeet Singh have been signed by HGC from Holland and they are all set to play in the Euro Hockey League this year. Both the players will play their first game on October 4 in Barcelona for the champions of the 2011 edition.

Devinder, who represented the country in the Rio Olympics, has played 48 international matches. On the other hand, Junior World Cup-winning skipper Harjeet has played for the senior Indian team on 52 occasions at the international stage.

Paul van Ass, who was a coach with the Indian team before, is also returning to his former club HGC for the 2019-20 hockey season. HGC had won the Euro Hockey League title back in 2011 and this year will be their first appearance in the tournament since then.

“They are the latest newcomers to an overhauled panel from the line-up that finished third in the Netherlands last season with coach Paul van Ass returning to the club in style,” the club said in a statement, reported PTI.
