India on Thursday narrowly missed out on a medal in the Paralympic event at Rio after Farman Basha finished an agonizing fourth in the men's 49 kilogram category. He finished behind Hungary's Nandor Tunkel who lifted 155 kg for a bronze medal finish.

Indian powerlifter Farman Basha missed out on a medal by a whisker as he finished fourth in the men's 49 kilogram category at the Rio Paralympic Games on Thursday.

The 42-year-old successfully lifted 140kg at the start, but he fell short in his second and third attempts at lifting 150kg and 155kg respectively.

Vietnam's Cong van Le, who lifted 181kg, won the gold medal while Jordan's Omar Qarada won the silver, and Hungary's Nandor Tunkel secured the bronze medal.

Other events ended in disappointment for India as Discus thrower Amit Kumar Saroha finished seventh among as many competitors in the men's discus throw F52 final.

Shooter Naresh Kumar Sharma did not make it to final in men's R1-10m Air Rifle Standing-SH1.
