Amlan Borgohain signs off with gold in 200m at National Open Athletics Championship, creates new meet record

The National Open Athletics Championship 2021 ended on Sunday with Assam's Amlan Borgohain bagging gold in men's 200m, and also bettering the meet record with a timing of 20.75 seconds. In women's 200m, Tamil Nadu's Archana Suseendran clinched gold, while Delhi's Taranjeet Kaur settled for silver.

Assam's Amlan Borgohain, after winning a silver in the 100m, ended his National Open Athletics Championship 2021 campaign with a gold in the 200m event. The 23-year-old created a new meet record at 20.75 seconds, bettering the previous record of 20.92 seconds, according to a report in Olympics.com. 

Silver medal went to Tamil Nadu's Nithin B, with a timing of 21.06 seconds, and Nalubothu Shanumaga Srinivas of Andhra Pradesh clinched bronze with a timing of 21.12 seconds.

Maharashtra's Sanjivani Jadhav bagged top honors in the women's 10,000m, after she had bagged a bronze in the 5000m earlier on Wednesday. 

Jadhav returned with a timing of 34:20.03s. Railways’ Kavita Yadav was second clocking 35:57.46, while Jyoti from Uttar Pradesh ended third with 36:37.90.
