FIBA Asia Challenge | India finishes seventh by beating Chinese Taipei

Indian men’s basketball team have upstaged Chinese Taipei 80-68 in the classification match to finish seventh in the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016. Despite conceding the first quarter by a margin of 15-22, India came back strongly to win the game on the back of Vishesh Bhriguvanshi's stellar show.

Chinese Taipei surged ahead in the first quarter by taking early points and led the chart by seven points. However, India came back in the subsequent quarters to dominate the opposition.

India took the lead by half-time taking a slender one-point lead in the second quarter, but Taipei did not give in so easily.

The third quarter was a tightly contested one although India held on to their one-point lead.

The final quarter was the decisive one and India dominated the proceedings by a distance leading the chart by 28-18 and eventually won the game by 80-68.

Vishesh Bhriguvanshi was the chief architect of the victory for India by scoring 22 vital points.
