It is a big day for the Indian boxing contingent, who would be playing their final matches today, starting at 3pm, at the Commonwealth Games 2022. After Lovlina Borgohain lost early in the competition, the onus is on the others to bring back a handful of medals for the country.

SAGAR (IND) DELICIOUS (ENG)

SILVERRRR

And a disappointing end to the bout here. SAgar will have to settle for silver here.

SAGAR (IND) DELICIOUS (ENG)

Sagar got a few blows on his head but gave some back as well. THis is an equal bout.

SAGAR (IND) DELICIOUS (ENG)

Looks like the English boxer might be slightly ahead but you never know. In the opening round, Sagar was a bit defensive, but really nothing to separate the two boxers.

SAGAR (IND) DELICIOUS (ENG)

So India have another final here in men's 97kg.

NIKHAT (IND) CARLY (NIR)

MEDAL ALERT

NIKHAT WINS THIRD GOLD FOR INDIA!!!

WHAT A PERFORMANCE BY THIS HYDERABAD!!

NIKHAT (IND) CARLY (NIR)

The Irish girl has become a punching bag for Nikhat as the punches keep on coming from the Indian. This has been one-sided till now.

NIKHAT (IND) CARLY (NIR)

A great start by Nikhat in the first round. She comes up with strong combination of punches and her opponent has a lot of ground to cover. India bracing up for another gold.

So we have a third final coming up. Nikhat Zareen will be in action soon.

AMIT (IND) MACDONALD (ENG)

GOLDDDDDDDDDDDD

A close last round between these two, but Amit had done enough damage in the first two to win the gold medal.

ANd he wins by unanimous decision 5-0.

AMIT (IND) MACDONALD (ENG)

Another one-sided round from the Indian as he lands a combination of punches continuously on his opponent. Macdonald has a big cut on his eyebrow, but he continues to fight.

AMIT (IND) MACDONALD (ENG)

This is an excellent start for the Indian as he is going all out in the final. A barrage of punches here. The English boxer does not look comfortable at all. A one-sided first round here for the Indian. Coaches assuring him he has won 5-0.

AMIT (IND) MACDONALD (ENG)

And here is the start to another gold medal match here for India. This is big.

UPDATE - AND we have some excellent news from boxing. We have a gold in women's 45kg where she beat ENgland counterpart 5-0. Excellent start to the day here.

That is a good way to end boxing for Indian fans today. It has been a pretty good day and Sagar has ensured that fans go to sleep with a smile on their faces.

SAGAR vs ONYEKWERE

THE WINNER.... BY UNANIMOUS DECISION.... IN THE RED CORNER.... SAGAR

ROUND 3 | SAGAR vs ONYEKWERE

The Nigerian is risking more here and the Indian is taking advantage of that. Sagar realizes that he does not have to do too much here. As long as he does not get dropped, he should be fine. Onyekwere's legs are not very stable right now as Sagar moves him around the ring. The referee tells both pugilists to not speak. Sagar has absolutely dominated this round as well. AND THAT IS THE BOUT!

THAT SHOULD BE A SIMPLE DECISION FOR THE JUDGES!

ROUND 2 | SAGAR vs ONYEKWERE

The Nigerian realizes that he has to attack here since he is down on the cards. But that is just Sagar wants. He lands a huge right hand that rattles the Nigerian. However, the jabs from the Nigerian has left Sagar's face with some color on it. SAGAR GETS WARNED FOR NOT GOING LOW! The Nigerian gets a standing count. Sagar thinks he has done enough as he keeps his distance from the Nigerian.  BUT HE LANDS A FEW MORE JABS IN THAT ONE!! THAT HAS TO BE SAGAR'S ROUND!!

IT IS !!! THE NIGERIAN WILL HAVE TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING SPECIAL TO STOP THE INDIAN FROM MAKING THE FINAL!

ROUND 1 | SAGAR vs ONYEKWERE

HERE WE GO!!!

The Nigerian goes for the first punch but it is the Indian who lands the first one. The Nigerian does land two big blows with the right.

The Nigerian's mouthguard falls out and the referee waits till we can put it back. Onyekwere has landed more punches but Sagar has definetly landed the more powerful ones. The Nigerian misses his hook and the Indian jumps in to land a big one of his own.

THIS IS A COIN FLIP FOR ME!

SAGAR WINS THAT ROUND 10-9 WITH ALL JUDGES SCORING THE SAME!

SAGAR vs ONYEKWERE

Both boxers are in the ring now. The referee will explain the rules to them and we will be good to go.

The last Indian boxer is up next. Fighting in the Super Heavyweight Category, Sagar will take on Nigeria's Ifeanyi Onyekwere.

TOKAS vs ZIMBA

SPLIT DECISION... OH NO!!! ZIMBA GETS THE DECISION!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!! HOW CAN HE WIN AFTER GETTING A COUNT?

ROUND 3 - TOKAS vs ZIMBA

What on earth will Tokas do here. We all know what Zimba will do but the technician needs to figure this out. Zimba is just going for it. He attacks with some ferocity. But the Indian is landing more clean shots in my opinion. WHOA!! That was a big shot by Zimba and Tokas did not even flinch. OH MY!!! A STANDING COUNT FOR ZIMBA!!! THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR THE INDIAN NOW!! RIGHT TILL THE FINAL BELL THEY KEEP GOING!! FIGHT OF THE GAMES SO FAR!!

As far as the result is concerned, I think Tokas has done more than enough to win. The standing count was the cherry on the cake.

ROUND 2 - TOKAS vs ZIMBA

Zimba again comes up flying and gets a couple of shots in. Tokas gets a couple of shots in but Zimba responds with a huge right hook. tokas catches Zimba with a jab right in the mouth now. Now Tokas catches him with a right hook. Zimba just looks like he wants to be left open to attack. Zimba again goes all in and gets a couple of scoring shots. I think he has won this one.

IT GOES TO TOKAS!!!

ROUND 1 - TOKAS vs ZIMBA

HERE WE GO!

Zimba starts off with a couple of hooks that Tokas blocks off easily. OH MY!! HE IS ATTACKING WITHOUT RESPITE! Tokas though stands back and gets his own punches in. THIS IS A CLEAR BOUT BETWEEN POWER AND FINESSE!! Very rarely does the former win at the amateur level. Tokas taunts Zimba by showing his chin before unleashing a huge right hand. Tokas had managed to bring down Zimba's attacking flair.

Both players punch the air thinking they have won. I think Tokas did enough to win that one.

OH MY!! IT IS A SPLIT DECISION!! 3-2 TO ZIMBA

TOKAS vs ZIMBA

Here come the fighters.

TOKAS vs ZIMBA

We already know who will either Tokas or Zimba will face in the final with Ioan Croft beating Tyler Jolly via split decision.

TOKAS vs ZIMBA

Rohit Tokas will walk into the ring next. He is up against Stephen Zimba of Zambia in the semi final of the Men's Welterweight category.

UPDATE - And what has happened here. The Ghanian boxer, despite losing the first round, makes an exceptional comeback in the match and beats Hussamuddin 1-4. HEARTBREAK FOR THE INDIAN, and a gold medal lost here.

And there is semis clash for India. Hussamuddin takes on Joseph of Ghana.

That is it as far as the Indian involvement is concerned for now. We still have Rohit Tokas and Sagar in the final session of the day that will start at IST 12:30 AM.

JAISMINE vs RICHARDSON

HERE IS THE DECISION

AND THE WINNER... BY SPLIT DECISION.... IS GEMMA RICHARDSON

ROUND 3 | JAISMINE vs RICHARDSON

Jaismine will have to come out fighting here. Defensive boxing is not going to get her a win here. She is still hoping to fight on the counter. But Richarson is landing her punches here. The Indian is throwing punches around but there is no conviction to these. And again she gets caught by a big right hand. JAISMINE HAS TO GO ALL IN NOW!! SHE IS NOT WINNING THIS!! SHE GOES FOR IT AND LAND A BIG HOOK! Richarson is staying away now. AND THAT IS IT!! I DON'T THINK THE INDIAN HAS DONE ENOUGH TO WIN THIS!

ROUND 2 | JAISMINE vs RICHARDSON

Both boxers get close to each other and unleash. There were a few clean shots by both players there. Richarson pushes Jaismine back by the chin. That looked ugly. It can cost her points if she tries it again. Jaismine gets a warning for holding now. Again a couple of jabs from Richarson land. Jaismine gets caught with a right left combo. BUT JAISMINE COMES BACK WITH A COMBO AS WELL! THIS WILL BE A COIN FLIP FOR ME!

THAT WAS A FULL SET OF DECISIONS FOR RICHARDSON!

ROUND 1 | JAISMINE vs RICHARDSON

It is Richarsin who has taken the initiative early. However, it is the Indian who has the reach advantage. Jaismine is too defensive here. We have not really seeen too much from here. BUT SHE COMES UP WITH A QUICK JAB WITH THE RIGHT! OH MY!!! RICHARDSON COMES BACK WITH THREE JABS INTO THE FACE! THAT WILL BE SCORING SHOTS! Now Richarson unleashes a right hook. Jaismine geta jab in but I don't think she has done enough here.

It is a split decision in favour of the Englishwoman.

JAISMINE vs RICHARDSON

India is up on the mat next. Jaismine is going to take on England's Gemma Richarson in the Lightweight Category Semi Final.

NIKHAT vs STUBLEY

AND THE WINNER.... BY UNANIMOUS DECISION... NIKHAT ZAREEN!!!

ROUND 3 - NIKHAT vs STUBLEY

Stubley will need to come out and fight now. She throws a right but it only partially catches Nikhat. The Indian also catches her with a jab. Nikhat has to just stay away here. She has two points per judge on her opponent. Stubley has not been able to create any real attack her. She stops Nikhat on the ropes but cannot get a telling hit on the Indian. Great jab by the Indian again. WHAT A A HOOK!! NIKHAT MIGHT WIN THIS ONE AS WELL!!

ROUND 2 - NIKHAT vs STUBLEY

Having won the first round, Nikhat is dominating the second round as well. Stubley is struggling to keep up with the Indian now. Nikhat is using her reach very well. The referee has warned Stubley to not use her head to attack. AND SHE GETS CAUGHT BY A BIG RIGHT HAND BY NIKHAT! THAT SHOULD BE NIKHAT'S ROUND AS WELL!

It is! 10-9 for the Indian by all the judges.

That is all the action we have for you as far as India is concerned in the first session. Do join us again at IST 7 PM for more ive action from the CWG.

AMIT vs PATRICK

HERE WE GO!!! DECISION TIME!!!

WINNER BY UNANIMOUS DECISION!!! AMIT PHANGAL!!! WHAT A WIN!!! HE WINS THE LAST ROUND AS WELL!! THAT WAS TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT THOUGH!!

ROUND 3 AMIT vs PATRICK

Patrick is behind on the cards and it shows as he comes out fast again. Amit stays away and then counters quickly with a brilliant hook. Amit is countering perfectly right now. He is staying away from the big right hand that has given so many problems to other boxers so far. The Zambian is behind on the cards and his desperation is quite evident here. Amit is waiting for him and getting in his shots that will score. GREAT hit by the Indian but Patrick is getting in a lot of work to the body. THAT IS IT!! THIS IS CLOSE!!! I HAVE NO IDEA WHO WILL WIN THIS ONE!

ROUND 2 AMIT vs PATRICK

Amit starts off well with a couple of quick jabs. OH MY!! PATRICK RESPONDS WITH TWO BIG HOOKS!! Amit comes back with a couple of his own but not with the same amount of power behind them. Patrick lands a few body shots as he tries to assert his will in the game. Amit clips the Zambian on a counter punch but he takes one as well. Patrick gets warned to keep his head up as both get close to each other this time. TWO MORE BIG HITS BY THE ZAMBIAN!! Amit has landed quite a few scorable hits as well. This is going to be close as well. I think the Zambian might have just edged this one.

IT IS NOT!!! AMIT WINS BY UNANIMOUS DECISION IN THIS ROUND! ALL 10-9.

ROUND 1 AMIT vs PATRICK

Patrick starts on the front foot as he lands a jab. Amit gets into his groove and Patrick feels the force of two hooks. OH MY!! That was a big right hand by the Zambian. Amit, fighting with his open stance, has landed a few jabs here and there but the Zambian responds with a counter shot again. Amit land a big right hand this time but this is too close to call. AMIT GETS CLOSE AND HANDS A FEW HOOKS OF HIS OWN! Amit is being his elusive best but he has to be a little more aggressive. THIS IS A COIN FLIP FOR ME!

The judges agree as it is a split decision in favour of the Zambian.

AMIT vs PATRICK

Patrick one his last fight after the referee stopped the fight. I don't think he will be doing that today.

We are almost ready as we wait for the boxers to make their way out to the ring.

Amit Phangal will be up next. He will take on Zambia's Patrick Chinyemba

ROUND 2 - NITU vs DHILLON

Dhillon comes out of the box firing but Nitu does well to stay away. A good defensive round should be enough for the Indian here. BUT SHE GOES ON THE ATTACK WITH A HUGE HOOK AGAIN!! AND AGAIN IT IS A STANDING COUNT FOR DHILLON!!!

AND THE REFEREE STOPS THE CONTEST!!! THIS IS A WIN FOR THE INDIAN!! WHAT A BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE THAT WAS!

ROUND 2 - NITU vs DHILLON

The Canadian is now trying to assert herself but she gets caught by a counter jab by the Indian. Huge jab by the Canadian now. And again. Nitu has been on the backfoot in this round. She comes back with a three punch combo but only one lands cleanly. Nitu comes back with another quick jab. AND SHE PUTS IN A HUGE HOOK!! STANDING COUNT FOR DHILLON!! THIS WILL BE A ROUND FOR NITU AGAIN

ROUND 1 - NITU vs DHILLON

Nitu has landed a great hook by the Indian. It has been quite a slow start by the boxers. Nitu has been the aggressive of the two. Dillon tries to counter but the Indian reponds with a great jab into the face. Dhillon is now coming out to fight. ANOTHER BIG JAB BY THE INDIAN! The Canadian finally lands a jab and hook combo but this round should go to the Indian.

ROUND 1 - NITU vs DHILLON

HERE WE GO!!

ROUND 1 - NITU vs DHILLON

Here come the boxers.

UPDATE - The first day of the match is for Nitu Gangahas in the 45kg category, where she takes on Canada's Priyanka in the semis. STAY TUNED for the latest.
