Mandeep Singh has stated that the team will give their all to secure a medal in the ongoing World Cup at home and won’t let the spirit die down anytime soon. The Indian skipper has also added that the team will go for attacking brand of hockey because it is then only they perform their best.

After Netherlands’ win over Canada, India are now slated to take on the former for a place in the semi-finals, and the expectations are at the highest level as well. India, for the first ever time, are hosting the grand tournament and it won’t be wrong in stating that that adds some unnecessary pressure on them too. However, Mandeep Singh revealed that the team doesn’t need any external motivation and will definitely return with a medal on their necks.

"We have to do our best because in the knockouts we can't afford to miss any chance - we also can't afford to give them easy chances or penalty corners," Manpreet was quoted as saying by Times of India.

"I don't need to tell the team anything because all the boys know how important this quarterfinal is. They are all aware that we have no option but to play well else we go out empty-handed. We will go in with full energy and motivate each other."

After Harendra Singh’s appointment, India has moved on from playing defensive hockey and started playing more attacking games. India’s win against South Africa was the result of the same style of hockey and Mandeep made it clear that they will continue doing so.

"We are best when we attack and when we go defensive we tend to become too defensive. That gives more chances to the opponents. We will look to attack and put maximum pressure on them. Also, Holland has a strong midfield and experienced players so we need to break their movement."
