When it comes to Boom-Boom Afridi, he can surprise you with the weirdest and funniest of things possible. In a Bangladesh Premier League, the former Pakistani skipper innovated a brand new shot as he paddled the ball into his own eyes before taking it out of his helmet.
After guiding Comilla Victorians to victory over Sylhet Sixers, Shahid Afridi struggled to be in his zone against Rangpur Riders, as his team had already lost their top five wickets for just 18 runs. Coming to bat after the Riders bowled a couple of consecutive maiden overs, Afridi was more cautious in his approach and only tried to play a sweep shot when he saw Nazmul Islam bowled one ball on the pads.
Islam found the fourth ball of the eighth over to gain some more bounce from outside off to which the Pakistani thought of sweeping it high. However, that took the top edge of the bat and went straight into his helmet. Afridi for a second couldn’t realise that and the moment he understood that the ball was struck in between the visor and the grill, he took it out and gave it back to the bowler.
