There is no doubt to Mohammed Shahzad’s six-hitting ability, but the discussion about his fitness is always on. A strong opponent of rigid fitness routine, Shahzad yesterday flaunted that he has it in him to dive like a fit cricketer as he made a full stretch despite having the ball in his hand.

While the cricketers nowadays - male or female - swears by Virat Kohli’s insane fitness level, Mohammed Shahzad is an anomaly. He was earlier sacked from the team due to his lack of fitness, but on the back of his superb six-hitting ability, he made a comeback to the team. He even went on to comment that he doesn’t need to have a diet if he can hit bigger sixes than Virat Kohli, which created a huge debate in the cricketing world that what is more important - skill or fitness?

With the debate still being on in various quarters, Shahzad seems like he doesn’t care about that and made fun of them after he took Imrul Kayes’ catch in a Bangladesh Premier League game between Chittagong Vikings and Comilla Victorians.

During the Victorians’ run-chase, on the third ball of the 16th over, Abu Jayed bowled a full ball which angled across to the batsman and Kayes wanted to drive the ball away from the body. However, his stretch couldn’t manage to the movement of the ball as he found an outside edge to it and Shahzad, who was keeping for the Vikings, easily grabbed that catch.

It was an easy catch for him, but Shahzad, being Shahzad, thought to have some fun at Kayes’ expense. With the ball safely in his gloves, he made a full stretch to his right and dived to show that he can. That made his teammates break into laughter as they came to pat his back for the “effort”.
