Herschelle Gibbs has been appointed the head coach of Sylhet Thunders in the upcoming edition of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League. Earlier during the players draft, Sylhet Thunders had introduced Sarowar Imran as their head coach but now Sarowar will act as the team's mentor during the league.

With Paul Nixon taking charge of Chattogram Challengers recently after the appointment of Ottis Gibson, Grant Flower and Owais Shah as the head coaches of Comilla Warriors, Rangpur Rangers and Rajshahi Royals respectively, Gibbs came on board as another overseas coach in the league. One of the finest batsmen of his time, Gibbs was an enigma but nothing could stop him from giving his all as a fielder for South Africa.

He will guide Sylhet Thunders as head coach while Imran, who was appointed as their head coach during the player's draft that was staged on November 17, would act as a mentor.

"Herschelle Gibbs is the head coach of Sylhet Thunders. Imran will be our team advisor and mentor," team director Tanjil Chowdhury told reporters on Friday.

Dhaka Platoons, meanwhile, ensured that they have a local coach in Salahuddin and an official commented that he has enough experience to guide the side in the tournament considering his past track record. Salahuddin won BPL on two occasions with Comilla Victorians.
