No question of dropping my pace despite injuries, says Kamlesh Nagarkoti
Indian right-arm quick Kamlesh Nagarkoti has stated that it's bee emotionally tough to deal with the injuries but when it comes to his pace, he's not going to compromise with it. The 19-year-old, owing to his injuries, has missed out on two IPL seasons and a lot of domestic cricket as well.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti, as we know, had already made a name for himself as an 18-year-old when he carried out immense pace, clocking around 150kph, for the Indian attack during the U-19 World Cup of 2018. Eventually, an IPL contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders followed and certainly, BCCI had their eyes on him for a brighter future. However, his back injury put his career in jeopardy and times got tougher for the young pacer.
“It was tough, I used to get emotional watching the IPL on TV. All my teammates were playing and I was recovering from an injury," Nagarkoti said.
“It used to be frustrating but my main aim was to get fit and get back on the ground. I worked really hard for that,” Nagarkoti told Cricketnext after his name was announced in the India squad for the Emerging Asia Cup tournament," the pacer was quoted as saying by CricketNext.
While coaches have asked him to change his action and the pacer has successfully worked on it, Nagarkoti has assured that it won't affect his pace.
“Coaches told me that my front-foot was going across and that was increasing the pressure on my back, I have made it bit more straight and I am comfortable with the action. There is no question of dropping my pace.”
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan cricketer, who last played a List A game in February 2018, is looking forward to coming back and proving it to the selectors that he's still the same old fast bowler that had impressed them in the past.
“Whatever happened has happened, I am not thinking about it too much. I want to show everyone that I am still the same bowler and I am looking forward to whatever opportunity I get. I have worked hard on my body, diet to regain my fitness. “
