Premier League clubs Manchester United and Manchester City are set to fight it out in the transfer market next season as they go head to head for signing Benfica sensation Florentino Luis. Luis has emerged as a top target for European clubs next summer with his impressive performances.

According to reports from Record, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has asked the football scouts of the club to be on the lookout for Florentino Luis. The Premier League champions will go after the Benfica star as they look to find a replacement for veteran midfielder Fernandinho. The Cityzens are looking to bid £55m for the 20-year-old.

Manchester United have also kept an eye on the youngster. Portuguese news media outlet, A Bola, has said that Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's backroom staff was present during Benfica’s 4-0 win against Braga, last Sunday. The Red Devils have also been interested in Ruben Dias, who was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer window.

Luis plays as a defensive midfielder, and has a release clause of £91m, but that is set to rise should he decide to sign a new contract with Benfica. The Portugal Youth International has started in all five games at the Estadio da Luz this season and will be an important player for Benfica this season.
