In the midst of a growing crisis, Juventus management held a lengthy meeting with head coach Thiago Motta, demanding immediate improvements to salvage their season. After back-to-back heavy defeats—losing 3-0 to Fiorentina and 4-0 to Atalanta—Juventus have now conceded seven goals without scoring in their last two Serie A matches. The club's Football Director, Cristiano Giuntoli, reiterated his faith in Motta following the latest loss but emphasized the need for swift changes.
According to Italian media, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, Giuntoli and CEO Maurizio Scanavino assured Motta that his job is safe for now. However, they made two specific requests: to restore defensive solidity and rebuild empathy with the squad. Juventus currently sit fifth in Serie A with 54 points, trailing fourth-placed Bologna by just one point as the race for a Champions League spot intensifies.
Reports suggest that Motta's relationship with parts of the dressing room has strained, contributing to the team’s lack of fight and poor attitude in recent games—an issue club legend Alessandro Del Piero also criticized. Despite the pressure, Motta refused to resign, stating that quitting would be “too easy.” With their UCL qualification hopes hanging in the balance, Juventus expect an immediate response from the team.
