Inter Miami comeback seals thrilling win over NYCFC
Inter Miami staged a comeback to beat New York City FC 3-2 at Yankee Stadium. Lionel Messi scored his fourth goal of the season from a free kick and assisted Micael dos Santos winner. Miami improved while NYCFC suffered first loss. Messi now has 54 MLS goals in 58 appearances and 901 career goals.

In the MLS clash at Yankee Stadium, Inter Miami staged a dramatic comeback to defeat New York City FC 3-2. The visitors struck early through Gonzalo Luján, who netted his first career goal in just the 4th minute. NYCFC responded quickly as Nicolás Fernández continued his impressive form, scoring his fifth goal of the season via a free kick in the 17th minute to level the score.
The hosts took control in the second half when Agustín Ojeda scored in the 59th minute, assisted by Maxi Moralez and Kevin O’Toole, giving NYCFC a 2-1 lead. However, their advantage was short-lived. Just two minutes later, Lionel Messi produced a moment of brilliance with a left-footed free kick, marking his fourth goal of the season and his 54th in 58 MLS appearances.
Inter Miami completed the turnaround in the 74th minute when Messi’s corner kick led to Micael dos Santos scoring the winner, his first goal for the club. Goalkeeper Dayne St. Claire made three saves for Miami, while Matt Freese recorded five for NYCFC.
With this win, Inter Miami improved to 3-1-1, moving into a tie for second place in the Eastern Conference, while NYCFC suffered its first defeat of the season.
