Borrusia Dortmund new signing Niklas Sule has revealed that he is excited to help play an important role in helping the side achieve their goals while acknowledging that he will have to work hard to get the fans onto his side. The German left Bayern Munich to join Dortmund on a free transfer.

Niklas Sule cemented his status as one of the best centrebacks in Bundesliga throughout his tenures with 1899 Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich. The German’s reading of the game and 1v1 ability has helped the defender stop opposition attackers and put on several impressive performances for his clubs. Sule joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2017 and has been one of their most important players for the side.

During his spell in Bavaria, the 26-year-old has helped the Bavarian club secure five Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokal cups, and one Champions League during his time at the club. However, while Sule and Bayern were in negotiations to extend his contract with the club, talks proved to be unsuccessful as the former Hoffenheim defender eventually decided to leave and announced his departure from the club.

The German international caused shockwaves in the transfer market earlier in the previous campaign as he announced that he was departing Bayern for arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract. Sule has expressed his delight in joining the German side and vowed to the supporters to give it his best to achieve their goals together.

"When I talked to the club, I felt a real connection to this club's ambitions. The chance to achieve those goals with BVB was an incredibly exciting prospect, and I can't wait for next season. I want to play an important part in us having a good season next year, and I want us to be as successful as possible. I think the main way [to win Dortmund fans' hearts] is by playing well. People will see that I'm getting stuck in for the club colours, and that's definitely my goal,” Sule told the club's website.
