Indian squash player Saurav Ghosal has been defeated in the quarterfinal of Zurich’s major PSA tournament, namely Grasshopper Cup. Ghosal went down in four games against Egypt’s Tarek Momen in the top eight round of the tournament to bow out of the event on Friday.

World number three and third seed Tarek Momen of Egypt proved an insurmountable hurdle as Saurav Ghosal went down in four games in a quarterfinal match late on Friday in the Grasshopper cup tournament, a PSA Gold event being held here. Momen won 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 14-12.

Nonetheless the eighth seed Indian, an experienced campaigner now, drove an initial scare into his opponent by snatching the first game. The Egyptian acknowledged that dent made him work harder to turn the tempo around but Saurav once again fought his way to the last in the fourth game before going down on extra points. The 68 minute-match was the longest among the quarterfinal matches.

Earlier in the tournament, the eighth-seeded Indian had beaten James 11-7, 12-10, 7-11, 11-5 to find a place in the last eight. This is a $110,000 Gold event and features seven of the top players in the world. This is another prestigious event which many top players in the squash fraternity compete to win the title.
