All eyes would be focused on Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari as they eventually lead the Indian Squad in the Archery arena at the Asian Games. The squad selected for the Asian Games would be the same one to represent India in the fourth round of the World Cup held in Berlin from July 16.

Olympians Mangal Singh Champia and Jayanta Talukdar could not make the cut to the 16-member Archery Squad that India are sending to the Asian Games. Vishwas, who had been a part of the winning team that claimed the bronze medal in Archery in the Asian Games held in Doha in 2006, has qualified for the men's recurve. He also represented the country at the second round of World Cup held in Antalya last year.

Olympian Atanu Das aced the two-day selection held in Pune at the Army Sports Institute and will be expected to make a grab for win in Jakarta. He is the only non army Archer among the four member squad of men's recurve with Sukchain Singh, Vishwas and Jagdish Choudhary.

Though she made it to the Indian Squad, former world no.1, Deepika Kumari came second to Promila Daimary of Assam. Abhishek Verma topped the selections held in SAI Sonipat for compound men’s whereas the compound women's was topped by Trisha Deb of Bengal. With Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari marching with Indian squad in the Asian Games held in Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2, India would hope for some success in the event at the Games.
