I will have to work harder to improve my timing, says Hima Das
Indian athlete Hima Das has revealed that she has to invest a lot of hard work in order to compete against the 51 athletes, who can run faster than her right now. She also praised the state government's policy of providing financial aid to the athletes as it motivates the players to perform better.

She stated that there are 51 athletes in the world, who have better timing than her right now and she'll have to work hard if she is looking at a positive result in the international Championships, especially Olympics.
“There are 51 runners in the world who run faster than I do. So I will have to work harder to improve my timing to compete with them in the upcoming international championships, especially the Olympics. The biggest challenge of my career has always been to improve my timing and it will always be so," Hima said.
Hima further shared that her father, Ranjit Das, footballer Lionel Messi and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar are her inspirations. She also expressed her gratitude towards the state government as they will be helping the players financially through their sports policy. According to her, it motivates the players to do well, especially athletes.
“Besides my father, who used to be a footballer at the local level, it is Messi for whom I started to play football. I love Messi. I also derive inspiration from the God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar," she said.
“I'm not comparing it with cricketers who get huge money. But getting some financial benefits do motivate players, especially athletes. I appreciate this move by the state government. A state like Haryana has been producing more and more players because of such motivations. At the same time, we the players also need to work hard to achieve our goals,” she added.
After having secured a gold medal at the World Youth Championships in Finland, Hima finished sixth at the Commonwealth Games. Recently, she clinched a gold medal at the Asian Games, held in Indonesia. Hailing from a small village, Kandhulimari from Nagaon’s Dhing, she was welcomed with a lot of enthusiasm at Guwahati on Friday.
