HS Prannoy and P Kashyap advance to pre-quarters of New Zealand Open

US Open finalists HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap have registered straight game wins in their respective matches to enter the pre-quarterfinals of the New Zealand Open in Auckland. Meanwhile, Sourabh Verma and Siril Verma also registered a win in the second round to advance to the third round.

US Open winner and Indonesian Open semi-finalist HS Prannoy continued his good form beating Indonesia's Firman Abdul Kholik 23-21, 21-18. On the other hand, US Open finalist and Commonwealth Games winner Parupalli Kashyap breezed past New Zealand's Oscar Guo 21-9, 21-8 to enter the pre-quarters of the New Zealand Open. 

Prannoy will next face 10th seed Hong Kong's Wei Nan while Kashyap will take on his compatriot seventh seed Sourabh Verma who won his second round encounter 21-16, 21-16 against Indonesia's Henrikho Kho Wibowo.

Siril Verma also bagged a win in his second-round contest overcoming Indonesia's Saputra Vicky Angga 21-14, 21-16 to advance to the next round.

However, the young duo of Sahil Sipani and Neeraj Vashist bowed out of the tournament suffering a loss to the 11th seed Lin Yu Hsien of Chinese Taipei and Australia's Anthony Joe respectively. Neeraj lost 16-21, 13-21 while Sahil went down 9-21, 8-21 in their respective singles match.

Pratul Joshi lost his match 13-21, 22-24 to top seed Tzu Wei Wang of Chinese Taipei in men's singles. 

However, Sanyogita Ghorpade and Prajakta Sawant were forced to make an exit after they lost 15-21, 18-21 to Japanese fourth seed Ayako Sakuramoto and Yukiko Takahata in women's doubles.
