Thanks to his French Open win, Kidambi Srikanth has jumped two places to grab a career-high ranking of 2 in the latest Badminton World Federation Rankings, announced today. In the women's ranking, PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal maintained their rankings at second and 11th position respectively.

According to the latest BWF rankings, Srikanth reached the second position with 73,403 points. Now, he is 4527 points behind World Champion Denmark's Viktor Axelsen, who tops the list. Son Wan Ho, Lin Dan, and Chen Long were in the third, fourth and fifth position respectively.

With his French Open success, Srikanth became the first Indian badminton player, male or female, to win four Superseries titles in a single calendar year. Along with the French Open title, this year the 24-year-old won the Indonesia, Australia, and Denmark Open.

HS Prannoy, who reached the semifinals of the French Open, also improved his rankings as he reached the career-best ranking of 11.

However, B Sai Praneeth lost a place to be at the 16th position, while Sameer Verma, who didn’t participate in the Denmark and French Open due to fitness issue, maintained his 18th position.

In women’s singles, PV Sindhu, who also reached the semifinals at France, has managed to retain her second position in the women’s ranking while former World No. 1 Saina Nehwal has also remained on the 11th place.

Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who entered the quarterfinals last week after beating the World No. 6 duo of Mads Pieler Kolding and Mads-Conrad-Petersen, benefited four places and have now reached the 28th position.

But, women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy slipped two places to end up at the 25th spot, while mixed doubles combo of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Sikki were on the 16th place which they claimed last week.
