Korea Open | PV Sindhu beats He Bingjiao to reach final; to face Nozomi Okuhara

PV Sindhu got the better of China's He Bingjiao 21-10, 17-21, 21-16 in the semi-final to reach the final of the Korea Open Superseries. The Hyderabad shuttler will now face Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in the summit clash, to whom she had lost the final of the Badminton World Championships last month.
Sindhu started on the offensive and from the first game, she moved well across her court to ease through the rallies against her Chinese opponent, which forced the latter into several errors. After opening up a 14-6 lead early on, Sindhu didn’t give the Chinese any chance as she won the first game comfortably.
The Rio Olympics silver medalist used her height to great advantage and used jump smashes and long shots that kept Bingjiao netting shots frequently as she took a five-point lead in the changeover of the second game. However, after that, Bingjiao used a change in strategy, attacking Sindhu with drop shots and side smashes to lead for the first time at 16-15 in the second game and despite Sindhu leveling the game at 16-16, the Chinese then attacked the Indian with long shots, taking four consecutive points to win the game.
After forcing the game to the decider, Bingjiao continued to play the same attacking brand of game, forcing her to scamper across the court and scoring points by hitting the lines in the process. Sindhu looked a bit tired at 9-7 but didn’t let that affect her game much as she upped her game soon after to take two quick points to lead 11-9 at the changeover.
After taking a 14-12 lead, the Indian started moving freely across the court, making Bingjiao hit wide by using her long drives. She scored her first match point through a smash and forced Bingjiao to net the next shot, taking the game in 28 minutes to win the 66-minute contest.
