My defence and stroke selection has improved considerably, claims PV Sindhu
World number 3 PV Sindhu has claimed that a rigorous six-week training program has given her confidence in her abilities ahead of a crucial period in the IBF season this year. Sindhu is hoping to go the distance in the upcoming All England Championships, which will begin on March 14 in Birmingham.
Since the age of eight, all Sindhu wanted to do was to play for India, having achieved that, the shuttler has set her eyes on becoming the best in the world in the near future. After a rigorous training schedule, before she departed for the All England Championships, Sindhu claimed that she has improved considerably as far as her
"My confidence levels have gone up. There are a lot of changes in my game. I have improved my defence and also the way I play different strokes.
"I am working hard and am fit. Every year is different, but this year I am feeling good. I will give my best and hopefully go the distance this year," said Sindhu in an interview with TOI.
Sindhu reckoned she is in much better shape as compared to when she won the Olympic silver medal in Rio back in 2016, as she hoped to go all the way in the upcoming All England Championships which is scheduled to be held in Birmingham from March 14. Sindhu singled out Tai Tzu Ying, Ratchanok Intanon and Akane Yamaguchi as her main competitors for the title in England.
"I consider it as a tough draw. We don’t get easy matches in a tournament like All England. We have to fight from the start and it will be tough from the first round.
"I think everyone in top 10 is of the same standard. It is difficult to judge and it will be tough against any of them. We can’t pick a favourite. But if you ask me to pick three, then it would be Tai Tzu Ying, Ratchanok Intanon and Akane Yamaguchi," added Sindhu.
