Canada Open | Ajay Jayaram, Sourabh Verma and Lakshya Sen qualify for Round 2

Ajay Jayram, Sourabh Verma and Lakshya Sen have registered victories in the first round of the ongoing Canada Open badminton competition. Parupalli Kashyap and HS Prannoy have also made it to the second round after they got bye in the first round of the Canada Open Super 100 tournament.

Indian shuttler Jayram was off to a very good start in the Canada Open as he got the batter of local favourite Huang Guoxing in the first round. Jayram defeated the Canadian by 21-15 20-22 21-15 to qualify for the second round of the tournament. He will now take on fifth seed Rajiv Ouseph of England.

In another match, National Champion Verma also defeated a Canadian Antonio Li 21-18 21-13 to qualify for Round 2. On the other hand, Asian Junior Champion Sen routed England's Chun Kar Lung 21-7 21-8 to march ahead in the competition. Verma will take on Canada's BR Sankeerth while Sen will meet China's Weng Hong Yang in round 2.

Well-known shuttlers Kashyap and Prannoy have also managed to get an entry in the second round of the tournament as they got bye in the first. Frenchman Lucas Corvee will be Kashyap’s opponent in the next round while Prannoy will face Japanese shuttler Koki Watanabe.
