Following the footsteps of India’ first Olympic medallist boxer Vijender Singh, Vikas Krishan has won his first professional bout comprehensively in two rounds of the six-round super welterweight category. He won the match against American boxer Steven Andrade through technical superiority.

Indian boxer Vikas Krishan has managed to win his professional debut bout at the Stone Resort Casino in New York. He defeated America’s Steven Andrade within two rounds through technical superiority in a six rounds welterweight category bout. One of the most successful amateur boxers from India, Vikas has won gold medals at the Asian and Commonwealth Games.

“Won my pro debut fight by TKO. Thank you all for your love and support,” Vikas tweeted after the bout.

Andrade came into the match with a fifty-fifty record winning half out of his previous six bouts. Though this was his fourth consecutive defeat. Vikas had recently signed up with the much famed Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions and this was his first bout as a professional.

Vikas has prepared for the match under the tutelage of Shakur Stevenson’s grandfather. Vikash’s fight was the under-card of Olympic silver-medallist Shakur Stevenson’s IBF Intercontinental and WBC Continental Americas featherweight title contest against Jessie Cris Rosales. Stevenson knocked out his opponent.

Before Vikas, Vijender too had signed with the Top Rank Promotions. He is still undefeated and will most likely play his first match later this year and has been preparing for the same.
