After being hospitalised following a road accident, Indian pro-boxer Neeraj Goyat has now been ruled out of the WBC Pearl World Championship bout against Amir Khan, scheduled for July 12. The organisers are now looking for a replacement of the Indian boxer for the fight against Amir.

Goyat and Amir were all set to take on each other in the WBC Pearl World Championship bout in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 12. The Indian, however, will not be able to take part in the bout against the two-time World Champion as he has been hospitalised following a road accident in which he is “severely injured”.

“We are very sad to inform that our star Indian boxer Neeraj Goyat who was preparing for his mega-fight against Amir Khan met with a car accident last night that has caused him severe injuries on his head, face and left arm. He is currently in hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Bill Dosanjh, Promoter of the Super Boxing League, said in a media statement.

Goyat, who is the WBC Asia welterweight winner and has a record of 11 wins, was returning from his training when the accident took place. The organisers have also informed that they are now looking for a replacement for the Indian.

“We are in the process of looking for Neeraj’s replacement. Please bear with us till we announce the new opponent of Amir Khan,” the statement further read.
