Indian boxers Gaurav Solanki and Manish Kaushik have clinched a gold medal apiece at the XXXVI Feliks Stamm International Boxing Tournament in Warsaw, Poland. Apart from the two yellow metals, India also won a silver medal and three bronze medals at the prestigious tournament in Poland.

In the 52kg category, Solanki was up against William Cawley of England and the Indian managed to get a unanimous decision in his favour to win the summit clash. The 22-year-old pugilist had won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and Chemistry Cup in 2018.

Similarly, Kaushik won the medal in the 60kg weight category after getting the better of Mohamed Hamout in the final encounter. The 23-year-old Indian defeated his opponent in the final game by a 4-1 verdict in his favour. Kaushik had claimed a silver at the Commonwealth Games and a gold at the India Open in 2018.

However, in the 56kg category, India got a disappointment as Mohammed Hussamuddin failed to win the last game and had to settle with only a silver medal at the end. Hussamuddin, who had finished the Gee Bee Boxing tournament at the second place, lost to Russia’s Mukhammad Shekhov by a 1-4 verdict.

Three other Indian boxers Mandeep Jangra, Ankit Khatana and Sanjeet had earlier lost their semi-final battles in the 69kg, 64kg and 91kg weight categories respectively and returned with a bronze medal each from the tournament in Poland.
