The Indian cricket board has decided to felicitate the Indian Under-19 cricket team for their sublime performances in the ongoing U-19 World Cup. CK Khanna, the acting president of the BCCI, has announced that they will give cash awards to the players for reaching the final of the event.

Under the guidance of Rahul Dravid, the U-19 team lived up to the billing and entered the final without really breaking a sweat. The team managed to secure victories in all the league matches that they played against Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Zimbabwe. In the quarter-finals, the Indian team beat Bangladesh by 131 runs to set a semifinal against Pakistan and in the semifinal game, the junior blue brigade beat their arch-rivals in a one-sided game by 203 runs, thanks to Shubman Gill’s century. The win helped them book their berth in the final of the tournament.

For their domineering performance in the whole tournament, the three-time champions received a lot of appreciation from the seniors and now Khanna informed that the BCCI will announce cash prizes for the side.

“I would like to congratulate the entire team and coach Rahul Dravid for this performance. Rahul’s contribution in guiding the Gen Next cricketers has been immense. Because of him we now have a talented pool of U-19 cricketers.”

“The BCCI will announce cash awards and also felicitate the team,” he told PTI.

The final of the tournament between the India U-19 and Australia U-19 team will be played on February 3 in which the Indian team will try to win the trophy for the 4th time in their youth cricket history.
