It is very rare to see MS Dhoni losing his cool and even when he is at the receiving end of a bad umpiring decision, he stays calm and accepts the decision. However, it was an anomaly tonight as Dhoni lost his cool and furiously walked onto the field and literally gave the umpire a talking to.

Captaincy is a very difficult proposition in a long league like the IPL as it drains you entirely and at times, pushes you to the very limit. MS Dhoni, however, has always been different in such situations and never ever has he lost control over his own attitude and the way he approaches the game.

However, with Chennai Super Kings’ win in danger, MS Dhoni did something that any captain would think 10 times before doing. The visitors needed eight runs on the last three balls to secure their sixth win in the tournament, but the controversy decided to drag the game on.

Ben Stokes bowled a slower full toss delivery which appeared to be waist high on first look, and without waiting for the leg-umpire’s call, business end umpire Ulhas Gandhe stretched his right hand to call it a no ball. However, the leg-umpire Bruce Oxenford instantly stepped in and reverted the decision by saying that it was not a no-ball, and he was right on his part to do so because it was not the call of the umpire standing at the business end.

Seeing that, MS Dhoni was angry and was very animated on the sidelines. Instantly, he furiously made his way to the ground and was seen shouting at the umpire twhat was happening. He was seen pointing his fingers at Gandhe that he first signalled no-ball, and even though the leg-umpire was asking him to calm down, he was not listening to him. Even Ben Stokes asked him to calm down, but Dhoni shared a couple of words with him before angrily returning to the dug-out.
