Misbah ul Haq acknowledged that it will take some time to build a strong Test team for the nation as he doesn’t have a magic wand to do it in a blink of an eye. Pakistan’s poor performance lately has invited a lot of criticism for the head coach who shared he is doing his best to set things right.

While international cricket has returned to Pakistan, their cricket team seem to have lost their way as they have suffered three back to back series losses under the guidance of head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah ul Haq. All the failure has attracted heavy criticism towards the former skipper while some former internationals have also asked him to step down.

Pakistan faced two back to back innings defeat during their tour Down Under which has fuelled talks about the ever-diminishing Test performance of the side. When asked if Misbah is really going to step down after the early setbacks, he admitted that it will take some time to build a strong side as the former skipper commented that he doesn’t have a magic wand to set things right immediately.

“What do you want,” Misbah responded. “…you have to understand I don’t have a magic wand to make everything right just like that. The players need a process to settle down and perform,” he added.

Misbah said he wouldn’t preside over Pakistan’s decline and would do his best to make things right. He, further, admitted that it would take time to rebuild this test team. Misbah also questioned the intentions of those who are hurling criticism at his while he shared that he is doing his best to get everyone together to develop Pakistan cricket as he goes about his dual role.

“I can’t stop anyone from speaking but to me, it is very simple what is in your heart you say.But whatever anyone says there is no pressure on me because of the dual jobs. To me, they are wasting their energy…Those who criticise..in fact…they want to get positions vacated.”

“Even as chief selector, I am consulting other selectors, the head coaches of the six provincial teams and even this squad has been finalised after proper deliberation. I don’t believe in a one-man show,” he concluded.
