IND vs BAN | Saif Hassan to miss Kolkata D/N Test with split webbing
Bangladesh have lost their reserve opening batsman, Saif Hassan to an injury he sustained during the first Test as they gear up for their maiden day-night Test in Kolkata. Hassan was all set to make his debut in the historic fixture after the regular openers disappointed in the series opener.
As Bangladesh aim to recover from the jolt of first Test and put up a challenge in front of the No.1 Test side in the World at their home, they have encountered an unexpected setback on the way. The visitors lost their reserved opener Saif Hassan who split his finger webbing while fielding during the first Test match in Indore as the twelfth man.
"Medical Team is of the opinion that he will benefit from being rested to full recovery. Taking the state of injury into consideration, Saif has been ruled out of the second Test," Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a release.
The youngster was in line to make his debut in the historic maiden day-night Test match after the regular openers failed miserably in the series opener. The incumbent opening batsmen, Shadman Islam and Imrul Kayes, managed all of 24 runs across two innings in Indore.
Both the openers have been utter failures lately while young Shadman’s highest score in last 5 innings is 41, veteran opener Kayes’ top knock in the last 20 innings is 44. With Hassan injured, Bangladesh are now forced to field the duo in the upcoming affair under lights.
