Bangladesh have been dealt a major blow ahead of their three-match T20I series against India, with pacer Mohammad Saifuddin ruled out of the series owing to a back injury. Saifuddin has been in exceptional form in T20I cricket for Bangladesh of late, scalping six wickets in his last three matches.

It seems like the woes for the Bangladesh Cricket Board aren’t going to end, as after the players called off their strike and normalcy was restored in the BCB, they have been dealt with yet another major blow. Fast bowling allrounder Mohammad Saifuddin has now been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20 series against India.

The reason behind his exclusion is a recurring back injury and according to recent scans, the injury will take more time to heal, meaning he will be under the keen eyes of BCB’s medical team.

"Due to a recurring back injury, Shaif (Saifuddin) will be rested from the India tour this year giving him an opportunity to consolidate his recovery over a longer period of time." the Bangladesh team's physio, Julian Calefato told Cricbuzz on Thursday (October 24). "He will now also have the opportunity to spend more time strengthening his body and his situation will be reviewed by the medical team again in the upcoming weeks for further updates."

This is the second time Saifuddin has been ruled out of the series after being named in the 15-man squad in a span of two months. He was named in the recently concluded T20 tri-series between Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Bangladesh but had to step down as the injury resurfaced. Bangladesh will be playing a total of three T20Is and two Test matches in India starting from November 3.
