Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on his Instagram handle on Wednesday. The Mumbai batter represented India in 67 Tests, including 24 as the captain of the side, and aggregated 4301 runs at an average of 40.57 with 12 hundreds and 18 fifties to his name. He also led India to their second consecutive WTC final in 2023 and has the second-best win percentage for an Indian Test captain, after Virat Kohli, who has led the country in a minimum of 10 Test matches.
Having retired from T20Is after leading India to their second T20 World Cup last year, Rohit emphasised that he will continue to play for India in ODIs. With Twitter buzzing with the news, experts and pundits joined in to congratulate the veteran player.

Test Cricket Great
Well played #RohitSharma. As player and as captain, you were a joy and India will say a big thank you to you. That century in Chennai, that one at the Oval, both priceless. You walked out against South Africa to open as if you had done it all your life. Will look forward to…

Thank You, Ro
The walks from the pavilion, the silent understanding between the 22 yards, the shared laughs in the dressing room, and the dominating mindset in the middle.
