The IPL playoffs are coming closer, and every team is eager to give its best. At the same time, an ODI series between Australia and Pakistan has also been announced. But the key Australian players such as Cummins, Hazlewood, etc., won't be a part of the same due to their IPL commitments.

The Indian Premier League is about to close into its playoff stages. In a few days, we will be having the final four teams of the tournament who will fight for the ultimate title. But at the same time, every team would want their key Australian players to be available with them for the most crucial games of the tournament.

This was made somewhat challenging by Cricket Australia, as the board announced its ODI series against Pakistan. The Australia tour of Pakistan will commence on 30 May, and it has brought questions on the availability of key players. It should be noted that players such as Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins are currently a part of the IPL.

And with the ODI series against Pakistan clashing with the IPL finals, it raises questions on their availability. Reports claim that the Australian players who are currently a part of the IPL will be allowed by the board to fulfil their franchise commitments before participating in the same.

Our Take

It has been a wise decision to ensure that the players are able to complete their commitments with the franchise. With the series coming at the time when the IPL playoffs take place, it will be challenging for players like Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, who have their teams almost standing in the playoffs. However, it remains to be seen whether the players whose teams will get eliminated from the tournament will be selected or not.
