Australia has announced its squad for the ODI series against Pakistan. With the majority of its key players being busy in the IPL, the team has decided to bring up a major comeback. Billy Stanlake’s name is also there in the squad, as he makes his return to the team after 7 years.

Australia will be going against Pakistan in a three match ODI series, which will start from 30 May. Since this series is clashing with the IPL playoffs, Australia will be missing out on its key players such as Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc. But one man's loss is another man's opportunity, and this has been the case with Billy Stanlake.

With Australia announcing its squad for the ODI series against Pakistan, Billy Stanlake has finally got his name in it. He last played an ODI game back in 2019 against India, and since then, he didn't find his name anywhere close to the team squad.

But Stanlake continued to showcase his best in the domestic games for Tasmania. And now it has helped him to make his comeback to the team after 7 long years. Moreover, it will be for the very first time when Stanlake plays for the Aussies in the Asian conditions. He has played for Australia in the home conditions and even represented the team in England.

Our Take

It is a great opportunity for Billy Stanlake to mark his comeback to the international side. With key bowlers being absent, he could take up the charge in the Asian conditions and eventually help the Australian side to come out victorious. At the same time, it will be slightly challenging for the IPL teams such as Lucknow Super Giants, as their players such as Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis have also been named in the squad.
