New Captaincy Candidate Emerges for India’s T20I Team
The captaincy race of the Indian T20I team is getting more exciting for the fans. Suryakumar Yadav is almost close to his retirement age, making the BCCI look to new captains. With a few names coming out previously, another name has been added to the list in the form of Ishan Kishan.

India is about to get a change in the T20I captaincy, but it remains unclear who would be the new captain of the team. The race to lead India in the shortest format of the game has taken more turns than the IPL playoffs race lately. A new candidate has emerged as a contender to lead the Indian team, and it is Ishan Kishan.
Following his impressive performances in the T20 format lately, he has now been a choice for the BCCI to lead the Indian team. Kishan made his comeback to the Indian team in the series against New Zealand and he has never looked back since then. Moreover, he also led Sunrisers Hyderabad for a few games in absence of Pat Cummins.
While Ishan Kishan has stepped up in the captaincy race, things are about to get more heated. It all started with Shreyas Iyer reportedly being a contender to lead the Indian team, before the reports went towards Sanju Samson. And now, Ishan Kishan has also joined this race.
Our Take
Ishan Kishan could be a great choice to lead the Indian team in the shortest format of the game. He was able to lead Jharkhand to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last year, and he also led Sunrisers Hyderabad for a few games this season. Even in absence of Pat Cummins, the team was able to display its finest performances under Kishan. But it still remains to be seen who comes out as the new captain choice in the next few days.
