Martin Skrtel has now terminated his contract with Atalanta, just weeks after he signed for the Serie A side. The former Liverpool defender left Fenerbahce at the end of last season before signing for the Serie A side and has once again opted to become a free-agent after reports of a fall out.

The 34-year-old did not even get the chance to make a debut for his new club, as he was left on the bench during Atalanta’s match against SPAL last weekend. It is indicated that Skrtel had a falling out with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini because he felt aggrieved at the fact that he was not introduced into the first team much sooner than Gasperini intended, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The veteran centre back has now decided to terminate his contract, after putting pen to paper for the Lombardy based club just 22 days ago. The former Slovakian International’s decision to terminate the deal has been agreed by the Serie A club, and they are ready to let the centre back leave the club.

During his eight-year spell in Liverpool, Martin Skrtel has made more than 200 appearances for the club and played an integral part of the Liverpool squad during his stay. He moved to Turkey in 2016. It remains to be seen where the former Red will end up as he is now a free agent and can join clubs even after the transfer deadline.
