Marcus Rashford’s future at Barcelona has become uncertain despite positive talks with manager Hansi Flick. Barcelona are unwilling to trigger the €30 million buy option before its June 15 deadline and are instead trying to negotiate with Manchester United.

The club’s reported €80 million move for Anthony Gordon and interest in Julian Alvarez have increased competition in attack.

In the latest twist surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future, Barcelona’s transfer activity has created major uncertainty over whether the English forward will remain at the club next season. Rashford, who joined the Catalan side on loan from Manchester United, reportedly wants to continue at Barcelona after positive talks with manager Hansi Flick. The German coach is believed to have informed Rashford that he was part of his plans for the upcoming campaign.

However, Barcelona have so far refused to activate the €30m buy option included in Rashford’s deal. Instead, the club are hoping to negotiate a lower transfer fee with Manchester United, although the Premier League side are standing firm on their valuation. Reports also claim that the purchase clause will expire on June 15, even though Rashford’s loan contract runs until the end of the month. Barcelona’s aggressive moves in the transfer market have further complicated the situation.

The club have reportedly agreed a deal worth more than €80m for Anthony Gordon, while they are also exploring a possible move for Julian Alvarez. If both signings happen, Barcelona would have several attacking stars competing for only a few positions, making Rashford’s long term future at the club increasingly uncertain.
