Indian sports community prays for Chennai flood victims

Chennai is facing its worst crisis in the last hundred years as heavy rains have flooded the city and its suburbs. The Indian sports community took to Twitter to express their support for Chennai flood victims.

Home town heroes Vishwanathan Anand and Ravichandran Ashwin prayed for the safety of the people and asked people to help anyone in need.

Indian Super League (ISL) team Chennaiyin FC and Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings have been helping people through Twitter by publicizing helpline numbers and information.

Chennaiyin FC manager Marco Materazzi also had dedicated the team’s 3-0 victory against Mumbai City FC on Tuesday to the people of Chennai.

Chennayin FC’s Indian striker Jeje Lalpekhlua and ISL team FC Goa also expressed his support for the people of Chennai.

Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma, Indian footballer Nirmal Chettri and commentator Harsha Bhogle also expressed their support for Chennai through Twitter.

Prayers for Chennai also came from abroad in the form of former CSK batsman Matthew Hayden.

Stay strong Chennai, the entire nation is praying for you.
