Football

India managed to finally win a game in the WC 2018 Qualifiers 2nd Round. A Robin Singh wonder-strike (video) helped India edge past Guam 1-0 in Bangalore. Creditable considering Guam was ranked 17 places above India and has had a surprisingly good run so far. Why are we not getting players from countries like Guam or even a 87th ranked Iraq to come play in the ISL?

Cricket: Magician trumps the Maestro

Shane Warne led Warriors convincingly beat Sachin’s blasters by 57 runs in a high-scoring match. Sanga, Ponting and Rhodes scored at 200+ strike rates to take the Warriors to 262, the second highest T20 score ever made (though not official) after the 265 by RCB in the IPL (Remember Chris Gayle’s 175 then). Obviously, the Blasters were never in for a chance. Warne may have trumped over Sachin this time, but on another day, another place amidst a sandstorm, it was a very different story.

Team news for IndvsSA 2nd test- Gurkeerat has been drafted into the squad. India looking to play a fifth bowler? Also, SA fast bowler Philander is out of the match, and series, due to an ankle injury.

And, Kejriwal has brought his anti-corruption drive to cricket!

Badminton: Saina lone hope at China Open

Saina survived a close match to move into the QFs of the China Open, a Super Series Premier event. Saina is the only Indian remaining in the fray, as PV Sindhu could not get the better of Shixian Wang of China once again. Saina will be facing World No. 10 Okuhara of Japan today, against whom she has a 3-0 record. Saina, though, is yet to completely recover from her groin injury!
