With the 2016 World T20 heading towards its climax, the sporting week was mainly dominated by cricketing action with a pinch of Boxing to add flavour to it. India got a boost in their Olympic medal quest thanks to boxer Shiva Thapa but suffered the disappointment of the Indian team’s loss in the semi-finals of the World T20. The week also saw the emergence of the ‘Champions’ dance at the T20 World Cup as nightclubs and house-parties alike are getting their move on with the champions.

One of the most likeable teams in the World T20 pulled off the biggest upset in the tournament as Afghanistan beat the mighty West Indians in their last group stage match. The upset victory was not the only highlight of the day though as Chris Gayle’s post-match celebration with the Afghanistan players probably edged the win and took the cake with the ‘Champions’ dance. As they say, you can keep a celebration away from a West Indian but you cannot keep a West Indian away from a celebration.

This week MS Dhoni brought out his funny side to tackle the question of his retirement. Dhoni must be as tired of reporters asking when he is retiring as Indian youngsters are with their aunts asking them when they are getting married. Well, Dhoni decided to turn the tables on the Aussie reporter who asked the question and called him up on the stage. He went on to ask him point-blank if he thinks Dhoni is fit enough to continue playing, and whether he thinks he can play the 2019 World Cup. The reporter answered in an affirmative and everyone had their answer. Classic MS Dhoni counter-attack!

There are not many people better than the West Indians when it comes to celebrations and the Caribbean players lived up to their rock-star tag after they beat India in the semi-final of the World T20. The West Indians switched on their party mode, and they celebrated like only the West Indians can. Their trademark ‘Champion’ dance is trending in the world right now, and it is only getting stronger. The world is doing the Champion dance, are you?
