South Asian Games: India increase their record gold tally to 148

India continued their dominance on day seven of the South Asian Games (SAG) and secured eight more gold medals – in men's triathlon, women's triathlon, women's marathon, men's marathon and shooting - and a handful of bronze and silver to take their medal tally to 253 – the nation's best-ever haul in SAG.

Most of the medals arrived from track events and shooting for India on Day 7 of the competition. In the 10m individual air rifle event for men, Chain Singh won the gold with a total of 204.6, beating Bangladesh's Sovon Chowdhury, who had a total of 203.6. Gagan Narang won a bronze in the event, with a total of 182.

In the 10m air rifle team event, India clinched the top spot on the podium, after beating Bangladesh in a tight contest. The Indian team, which consisted of Chain Singh, Gagan Narang and Hasan Imran Khan produced a total of 1863.4, bettering Bangladesh's total of 1845.8.

India won four medals (two gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze) in the 25m men's team and individual standard rifle event. India beat Pakistan to the gold in the team event with Neeraj Kumar, Gurpreet Singh and Mahender Singh in stunning form. In the individual event, India swept all the three medals, with Neeraj leading the charge with his gold.
