As per the WADA report, NADA tested 3174 urine and blood samples during 2017 of which 71 showed Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF), which indicates the number of positive tests. Popular sports like football and hockey had one positive report each from the 318 and 156 samples respectively.

Indian athletes formed the biggest group of sportspersons who were found guilty of violating the National Anti-Doping Agency in the last one year, based on the latest WADA report. Indian athletes accounted for 21 of the 71 positive results that were recorded by NADA in 2017.

As per its report, ADA tested 3174 urine and blood samples in the last one year which displayed 71 Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) that indicated the number of positive tests. The report also revealed nine Atypical Findings (ATF). These were the samples that were found suspicious and possibly required further investigations according to theĀ World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) policies.

Although there were fewer positive results as they reduced from 110 in 2015 to 71 inĀ the last year, the results came after NADA tested a bigger pool of 4734 players in 2015 as compared to the 3174 tested in 2017.

A detailed breakdown of the NADA tests revealed that in athletics, 815 Tests were conducted in 2017 with 502 being In-Competition (IC) while 229 were OOC (Out Of Competition). The second highest number of dope offenders came from Power Lifting, which added a total of 14 positive tests out of the 50 IC samples collected. Weightlifters also cameĀ in the top three dope offenders with 11 positive tests out of 359 collected samples.

The biggest surprise came in the sport of Bodybuilding where NADA collected only 18 samples yet nine turned out to be positive, exactly half of the samples were positive. Popular sports like football and hockey were more or less clean as there just one positive report each from the 318 and 156 samples collected respectively.
