South African tennis star Kevin Anderson has confirmed his participation in the upcoming Chennai Open – South Asia's only and India's premier ATP tournament – which is scheduled to start from January, 2016.

The 29-year-old had a fairly successful season in 2015, reaching his career best ranking of World No.10 back in October. He also won his third ATP title at the Winston-Salem Open, before continuing his good form on hard courts to reach the quarter-final of the 2015 US Open, defeating Andy Murray on his way, where he eventually lost to Stan Wawrinka.

The South African will once again battle Wawrinka, the defending champion and two-time winner of the title in 2014 and 2015, when the Chennai Open starts in January next year.

"I am very pleased to start the 2016 season by playing at the Chennai Open and look forward to coming back to India. I have heard about the great competitive nature of this tournament and support of tennis loving fans from players on the tour. It's a great country and it will be special if I can make a strong start to the season here," Anderson was quoted as saying by IANS.
