Sania-Hingis enter Madrid Open final with comfortable win
Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis entered their second final in as many tournaments after a straight sets win over unseeded pair Vania King and Alla Kuryavtseva. The world #1 pairing won the match 6-2, 6-0 on Friday evening in only 50 minutes, dominating from start to finish.
The Indo-Swiss pair started in style and won 61% of their first serves. Despite their good performances from the service line King-Kuryavtseva broke the top seeds twice. However, that didn’t appear to affect the course of the set as “Santina” continued to get break points themselves, and converted four of them to win the first set 6-2.
In the second set, the Indo-Swiss pair went a step further and won the set by a bagel. Facing no break points, the Indo-Swiss pair served broke their opponents thrice in four attempts to sail through the finals.
After a heartbreaking loss at the Stuttgart final less than two weeks back, Sania-Hingis would be hoping to set the record straight against fifth seeds Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.
