A one-sided round 32 match between Rafael Nadal and Borna Coric at the Rogers Cup turned into an entertaining affair when hawk eye failed to pick up the ball after Coric challenged the linesman's decision; Nadal was stunned that the decision did not go in his favour.

Top-seed Rafael Nadal was cruising towards an easy win at the Rogers Cup as he had already won the first set 6-1 against Croatia's Borna Coric and was leading the second by 4-1.

In the fifth game of the second set, Nadal and Croic were tied at 40-40 and the Spaniard started the proceedings for the advantage with a strong serve that seemed to have proved overwhelming for the Croatian who, according to the linesman, had hit the ball out of the court. However, Coric was not satisfied with the decision and challenged it.

The crowd cheered in anticipation of Nadal winning the point but when the hawk eye screen came up the applauds changed into laughter as according to the hawk eye the ball had vanished into thin air or as the commentators termed it, it was a 'phantom ball', as the technology failed to display the area where the ball landed. The referee declared that it was due to some technical difficulties and announced that the technicians confirmed that the ball was in.

Meanwhile, Nadal was assured he had the advantage but the decision turned his assurance into disappointment as he was seen nodding his head in disdain and gesturing the margin by which the ball had crossed the baseline.
